Yesterday, we celebrated Harvest at St Edwin's Church with our village community. This year, Harvest Service was all about thankfulness and the new hope that God gives us through generosity.
Each class kindly brought items to donate which will be given to the food bank, to give emergency food to people in our community who are in need.
The children in each class created Harvest artwork linked to the items that they were asked to donate. As each class brought their artwork to the altar, a prayer of thanks was read out by the children. They did very well to speak in front of so many people.
All of the children brought their offering to the front of the church as we listened to the song 'Give thanks with a grateful heart'.
The children from Class 4 then performed their song 'The streets of Darlington' to which the words they had written themselves. It was very a very moving moment and they performed their song beautifully.
Here are the lyrics to their song...
Revd David Railton then closed the service with a blessing and the Lords Prayer.
Thank you to all who came to celebrate Harvest with us this year.
